Recovery & Community-based Services
People can and do recover from mental ill health and therefore promotes recovery-oriented and community based services. Mental Health Europe advocates for the transition from institutions to community-based care for people living with mental ill health and psychosocial disabilities. Mental Health Europe believes in person-centred, quality and empowering models of services and formal and informal care that fully respect the human rights of all people with care or support needs.
With the right support, recovery from mental ill health can happen. Recovery does not necessarily mean the end of mental distress. It means living a fulfilling life whilst having control over your own life.
Mental Health Europe is also an active member of the European Expert Group on the Transition from Institutions to Community-based services.
