AHEADinVET – mentAl HEalth AmbassaDors in VET institutions
About the Project
Performance pressure, stress, distance learning, isolation and digital overload: learners are under enormous pressure. The COVID 19 pandemic in particular has added to this pressure. Educational institutions are a place that increasingly has to deal with learners’ psychological problems.
Teachers and trainers usually deal not only with learning content. They are teachers and counsellors mostly at the same time. Appropriate training or materials are hardly available. At the same time, more and more trainers report being over-supported, as they have to deal with situations that keep them very busy emotionally. Likewise, trainers point out that even course objectives are hardly manageable because they have to stabilise learners beforehand and cannot concentrate on content. This not only puts trainers in a quandary, but also those affected themselves, as mental health is often a taboo subject that is not talked about.
Mission
To raise awareness, we will develop an online campaign, a podcast and a self-assessment tool. We are also planning a curriculum for teachers and trainers to support them in the best possible way.
Vision
Promote European discourse on mental health, especially in VET, to make the conversation about mental health more natural and provide a basis for competence development.
