Just Published: 2025 Alternative report on the UN CRPD implementation by the EU

Ahead of the review of the EU’s compliance with the Disability Rights Convention by the UNCRPD Committee during its 32nd session, Mental Health Europe has published its alternative report on the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) by the European Union.
This report is an updated version of the alternative review done in 2022. As the review initially planned at that time was postponed, Mental Health Europe decided to update the report to reflect the policy changes at the European level that have happened since its publication.
UN Treaty bodies such as the UNCRPD allows civil society organisation to publish these shadow report to support their review. It is a way for civil society to provide information on the implementation of the UNCRPD by the EU. This is a valuable opportunity to directly influence the implementation of the Convention and to raise issues that might otherwise be overlooked.
Mental Health Europe alternative report focuses on the needs and challenges faced by people with psychosocial disabilities and mental health problems in Europe due to the gaps in the implementation of the UNCRPD.
