Instagram Live | A conversation with Belle de Jong | 16 May 2021

As part of its European Mental Health Week “Instagram Live conversations” series, Mental Health Europe was joined by the Malta-based freelance writer and mental health activist Belle de Jong. You can rewatch the conversation below or on MHE’s Instagram account. 

Belle’s article about what she experienced at Mount Carmel Hospital caused a national outcry and shed a renewed spotlight on coercion in mental healthcare. In this inspiring conversation, we talk about the state of mental health care in Malta but also about Belle’s personal mental health journey and the importance of reaching out and verbalising the mental health experiences we are faced with in order to make sense of them, learn and grow.
