Call for artworks/artistic practice in the field of mental health and community arts
Submit by 13 October 2024
Are you working on mental health and community arts? We’re looking for work to feature in an upcoming mini-festival on these topics hosted by Mental Health Europe and Culture Action Europe, 9-13 December 2024.
The festival will put community arts and mental health in the spotlight, celebrating the work being done across Europe in this field, examining its impact on individuals and societies, and asking what is the future for arts, culture, and mental health. By centring the work of people with lived experience of mental distress and their supporters, the event and its visitors will take part in a conversation about art and mental health and play a part in breaking the stigma which harms all of us.
The event will focus on factors that shape our mental health, for example, relationships and community, social inclusion, care, employment, the environment, education, the digital world, and discrimination faced by marginalised groups.
If you have an artwork or a practice that you think could be featured in the festival, please contact a.latham@mentalhealtheurope.org putting ‘Arts and Culture Festival Submission’ in the subject line with details of the work. All we need at this first stage is:
- A brief description of the work
- A short explanation outlining its relevance to mental health and community arts
- What would be required to get the work to Brussels
- Finally, why showcasing this to European politicians would create a conversation
The deadline for submissions is 13 October. An independent curation panel will make a final selection of works by 10th November.
