A successful European Empowerment Seminar

MHE together with its Scottish member organisation Penumbra held a successful European Forum on mental health which gathered mental health experts from 14 European countries in Edinburgh to discuss mental health practice across Europe and identify priorities for improvement. Discussions focused on how people who have overcome mental health challenges can use their experiences to help others.
The discussions highlighted Peer Work as a valuable component of mental health services across Europe as it puts the experience of people who have overcome mental health challenges at the centre of care and support.

Experts from as far away as Lithuania, Romania and Greece traveled to Edinburgh to hear from leading academics and people who use and run services. Staff from the Wellbeing Hub in Moray and the Enik Recovery College in the Netherlands delivered presentations on their own approaches with services.
