Same journey, new paths: thriving, innovating, and leading the way in shaping a Europe where everyone’s mental health flourishes
As we start a new year, the time has come for change, while our commitment to improving mental health for all and protecting the rights of people with mental health problems remains unwavering. After over six incredible years serving as Director of Mental Health Europe, I will embark in a few months on the next chapter of my professional journey.
While excited to focus on new avenues to promote mental health, this decision comes with mixed emotions, as my time as Director of Mental Health Europe has been one of the most transformative experiences of my life. Together, as a community of passionate members, a talented team, and inspiring partners, we have achieved so much. Thank you!
We’ve championed mental health as a human right, amplifying its importance across European policymaking. We’ve driven the shift towards community-based care, advocating for systems built on recovery, dignity, and inclusion Mental health has gained prominence on the EU political agenda with milestones such as the launch of a comprehensive approach to mental health by the EC and the creation of a Mental Health Intergroup in the European Parliament. We’ve seen the psychosocial approach gain recognition, and the language around mental health evolve.
These achievements are a testament to your trust, collaboration, and dedication – qualities that have shaped this incredible journey. I am deeply grateful for the chance of being part of a movement that is transforming lives across Europe, and I look forward to contributing to it in different, meaningful ways.
Mental Health Europe, with its dedicated team, Board, and Senior Policy Advisors, and a strong network, will continue to find new ways to shape a Europe where mental health is truly valued. Change is a natural part of every organisation’s evolution and a catalyst for innovation. I am keen to see the organisation further thrive and grow in the years ahead.
Although I am leaving the role of Director, I will work closely with our Board and team over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition to new leadership. My commitment to the organisation’s values remains strong, and I will continue to champion the mission that brought us all together.
Here’s to the next chapter—not just for me, but for Mental Health Europe and all of us striving for a brighter, healthier future for everyone.
All the best,
Claudia
