2018 European Empowerment Seminar to take place in the Netherlands

Mental Health Europe is set to host its 2018 European Empowerment Seminar for 2018 at Recovery college Enik and Recovery college Enik Overvecht in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

The Peer practice at all levels event will be a capacity building seminar on peer support practices, with discussion on how to implement peer support in European mental health care.

The inclusion of peers (ex-users and users of mental health services, and their relatives) in support is increasingly being recognised as a crucial part of the shift towards recovery-focused mental health services. But the implementation of peer support is not without challenges – how can we integrate peer support into our society and mental health services? What knowledge do we need to gain?

At the Empowerment Seminar MHE and member organisations will discuss different experiences of creating peer practices and explore how to promote and implement peer support and peer influence.

The event will take place 11-12 December and MHE members are invited to apply to attend by emailing info@mentalhealtheurope.org before the 14 November. Please note that the seminar is for persons with lived experience of using mental health services.

We look forward to welcoming MHE members to Utrecht later in the year.
